How Our Nurseries Work
Enquiring Minds
We will of course be preparing your child for mainstream school life and to that end we offer a varied and exciting curriculum.
Children assimilate knowledge in different ways. Your child may be an audio, visual or a kinesthetic learners. The nursery will ensure that all activities meet your child's needs through monitoring and observation.
Children under three years of age are monitored and assessed according to four areas of development: physical, emotional, language and health. Individual planning enables each child to meet his/her personal goals.
Language and literacy are developed and nurtured using interesting and diverse methods, such as making books or visiting the theatre. This ensures that your child is exposed to the written and spoken word in fun and enjoyable ways.
Numeracy skills at this early stage are developed through games such as edible maths - yummy! Counting raisins help to promote maths agility, and an enquiring mind. Imaginative play is used to enhance and help ensure that topics are reinforced creatively.
We encourage a knowledge and understanding of the world and the environment with topics that celebrate seasons and cultures. We use simple science games, plant our own vegetables and even hatch and nurture chicks from our local city farm.
From three years of age the children follow the Foundation Stage curriculum.
